Pet Care Trade Association Puts Members First The newly created Pet Care Trade Association has replaced Pet Care Trust Trading Ltd as the membership body linked to the Pet Care Trust representing pet specialist businesses in the UK.
‘Adopting this name is a clear indication of our support for businesses within the pet care industry,’ says Janet Nunn, the organisation’s chief executive.
‘As well as using a name that signals clearly who we are, we are taking practical steps to ensure members’ interests are at the heart of all our activities. We are also changing the structure of our organisation and empowering members themselves to elect the directors who will best represent their interests. The first opportunity for members to do this will be at our meeting on 20 September at Petindex.’
‘It is the right time for us to be making this move as we have built up a great range of services for our members, including a prestigious portfolio of training for pet specialists from beginners to licentiate level, events with a national reputation such as the British Dog Grooming Championship and money saving schemes such as our card processing services and discounts on exhibition space at Petindex and PetEx.
‘And our lobbying work to benefit pet care businesses goes from strength to strength. In recent months we have been influencing local authorities on animal welfare policy, given expert advice to the Bateson inquiry on dog breeding, and challenged red tape through The Better Regulation Office. It’s no wonder that more businesses are joining every week!
‘The Pet Care Trade Association (PCTA) will continue to foster the work of our education charity, the Pet Care Trust, which promotes the benefits of pet ownership, provides animal care information, sets standards and other public facing activities.’
